British Chancellor Sajid Javid has resigned as chancellor after he refused to heed a request by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to sack his team of advisers, The Guardian reported.

The decision comes just days before the incumbent chancellor was set to present the UK budget on 11 March, setting out the government’s tax and spending priorities.

Javid is likely to be replaced by Rishi Sunak, widely regarded as a rising young talent in the Conservative Party.

Sunak, who was first elected to the British Parliament from Richmond (Yorks) in 2015, has previously served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

After attended the Winchester College, Sunam completd Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University. He also holds a MBA degree from Stanford University in the United States.

Sunak briefly worked for investment bank Goldman Sachs.

He is the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy.
