Inspired By Kempegowda Airport, Digital Display Screens To Come Up In 35 Railway Stations In Bengaluru Region

Inspired by Kempegowda International Airport, railway stations in and around Bengaluru will have digital display screens, The New Indian Express has reported. They will be used for relaying information about the arrival and departure of trains.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Bengaluru Division N R Sridharamurthy said, “These screens are being launched in line with the Rail Display Network (RDN) Policy announced by the Indian Railways for railway stations across the country last year. The Bengaluru Division will be the first in the country to launch this on such a large scale. We are floating tenders next week.”
By 2021, all the major stations will have a network of display screens that will be helpful in relaying information on arrival, departure, delay, status, emergency messages etc.
Currently, the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway station is the only one in Bengaluru Division to have a digital screen.
The project will likely cost about Rs 5.5 crore. Once the bidders are selected, they will bear the cost for installation since they will be later earning profits that are generated through advertisements on the screen.
