Iran has come out firing on Pakistan over Islamabad's overt involvement in the internal matters of Afghanistan and has questioned the reports of the presence of Pakistan military personnel in the Panjshir Valley, reports Times of India.

The Iranian regime has condemned the Taliban's military offensive in Panjshir valley and has also objected to Pakistan virtually running the show in a Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Its latest salvo against Pakistani involvement indicates that it may not be ready to give up its influence over the Taliban resistance which mainly comprises Tajiks and other minority groups.

"Last night's attacks are condemned in the strongest terms…and the foreign interference …. must be investigated,” Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh told journalists on Monday (6 September). “We are investigating it," Khatibzadeh added.

This comes at a time when the chief of Pakistan's notorious ISI, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed had landed in Kabul to oversee government formation and to iron out the power struggle between the Taliban and the Haqqani network over roles.

Meanwhile, on the official front, India has maintained silence over the past few days about the developments in Afghanistan. It is believed that the Government officials are following the events in Afghanistan and would judge them based on actions on the ground.
