The BJP candidate is a challenger. The Rahul Gandhi-Smriti Irani contest is unfolding into a thriller straight out of the hockey turf. The lead is changing round by round in the early trends.
Currently, Irani seems to be ahead. As of now, on the national front, BJP has crossed its performance of 2014. Gandhi continues his lead in Wayanad.
While Modi chemistry will work for Irani, the magic on ground for BJP is mostly her own. She has been the forward, defender and midfielder with untiring foot work against two members of the Gandhi family from Congress Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Whether or not she pulls it through during the next few hours, she is fighting a tough battle.
