Even as by-polls in Kundgol and Chincholi assembly constituencies are just around the corner, sleuths from the Income Tax department have raided a hotel and resort at Hubbali. The raid stretched from Monday (13 May) evening to Tuesday (14 May) morning, reports Deccan Herald.
Income Tax officials and mobile flying squad units of Election Commission had organised a raid on the above mentioned properties. They suspected that these places contained cash and other things to bribe the voters.
In the raid, 11 portraits of late minister C S Shivalli, 50 gold-plated sindoor boxes, seven lists of voters and other items were seized. A case was filed against Shivakumar Chandrashekar Gokavi in connection with the case at Gokul Road police station.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
