The S Jaishankar led External Affairs Ministry has issued a strong demarche to Turkey against its President Erdogan who compared the “struggle in Kashmir” with Turkey’s role in World War I. He also expressed concern over the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
This was countered by a strongly worded demarche by the External Affairs Ministry which said that Erdogan displayed neither an understanding of history, nor diplomacy while making the statement.
“India has made a strong demarche with the Turkish government on the remarks made by President Erdogan on the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during his recent visit to Islamabad. These remarks reflect neither an understanding of history nor of the conduct of diplomacy”, said the MEA statement.
MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar added that this pattern of Turkey interfering in the internal affairs of other countries is completely unacceptable.
