Ivanka Trump The Next World Bank President? So Say Some Reports

In the race for the position of the President of World Bank, leading contenders are former UN Ambassafor Nikki Haley and US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump. President Jim Yong Kim’s term will be ending soon.
Making a sudden announcement on Monday, Kim said he has decided to cut short his tenure as World Bank president. He still has three more years to go. Some other names that are being proposed is that of Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs David Malpass, US Agency for International Development chief Mark Green, Live Mint reported.
In 2017, due to Ivanka Trump’s efforts, the World Bank set aside a fund of a billion dollars to encourage women entrepreneurs.
A spokesperson of the Treasury Department has been quoted as saying, “We are beginning the internal review process for a US nominee. We look forward to working with the governors to select a new leader.”
On Thursday, the World Bank Board said they will be accepting nominations for the position beginning early next month and have clearly indicated that the nominees can be outside of the US as well.
