Minister of Jal Shakti in Uttar Pradesh government Mahendra Singh has said that a special task force will be initiated to remove illegal occupation of land that comes under the state irrigation department.
According to this report, the drive will be steered and headed by district magistrates across the state. The drive will begin on 15 March. The work will be done under a month's deadline.
Illegal occupation will be first removed in and around Lucknow. Such illegal occupation in Lucknow has been identified and listed. A notice will be served before their removal.
The report adds that there are occupations in Mallpur (Chinhat) and those on both sides of the Haidar Canal which are illegal. Lucknow DM Abhishek Prakash has held meetings with officials and taken stock of the proceedings.
