Jammu And Kashmir State Flag Removed From Secretariat Building In Srinagar; Other Government Buildings To Follow Suit

In a symbolic development, the state flag of Jammu and Kashmir has been taken down from the civil secretariat building in Jammu & Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar, leaving only the Tricolour flying on it, reports India Today.
Other government offices are following in like manner and soon only the national fly atop their buildings as well. This is another one of the many changes which marks the end of the state’s special status.
"The removal of flag is in continuation of abrogation of Article 370 and not dependant on official bifurcation from October 31," said a state government official.
The state flag of Jammu and Kashmir was officially recognised as such by the state’s constituent assembly through a resolution in 1952. Its history goes back to 1931, when a crowd of Kashmiri demonstrators hoisted it following a bloody between locals and Dogra troops.
