As Kashmir Valley is gripped in chaos amidst warnings of possible terror attacks and subsequent security advisories by the Centre, national carrier Air India will be waiving off charges on rescheduling and cancellation on its services to and fro Srinagar till 15 August, reports India Today.

Other airlines including IndiGo, Spicejet and Vistara have also decided to waive off cancelling and rescheduling charges till 9 August. The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an advisory to all the airlines to be on the edge to operate additional flights to and fro Srinagar airport, contingent on the situation.

“At around 8.45 pm, the situation at the Srinagar airport was checked by the DGCA and it was found to be normal. It was found that there is no need to run extra flights right now. But if the need arises later on, the airlines have been advised to remain ready to run extra flights,” said a source privy to the development.

The high state of readiness follows the alerts raised by the Indian Army on Pakistan based terrorists’ plans to attack the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
