Pakistan is using psychological warfare in a bid to create rift in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Punjab. By raising the frequency of FM broadcasts from its side, Pakistan is attempting to provoke the local people of the union territory against the Indian Army, reports The Tribune.

After the abrogation of article 370 the Union Government has taken many steps and precautions to improve the situation in the UT and combat insurgency. However, Pakistan is using radio as a means to deteriorate conditions.

The frequency of FM104, broadcast from Pakistan, can be listened in most parts of the Jammu division and uses provocative messaging to incite people against Indian security forces. The Pakistani side is also pushing its propaganda on social media, using hashtags like #AllahHelpKashmir on Twitter.

Using catchy Bollywood songs as a backdrop, the radio jockey than starts talking about Kashmir and how “Indian Army is committing atrocities against Kashmiris” and makes passionate appeals to its audience to trend the #AllahHelpKashmir in twitter.

The propaganda broadcasts are particularly receivable close to the Jammu-Pathankot highway due to its proximity to the international border.

Also underground and pro-militant radio stations operate with impunity from Pakistan which anyone can listen to in Poonch, Rajouri, Nowshera, R S Pura and Jammu city and few towns in Punjab near the border.
