Japan Comes To India's Support Over LAC Standoff Against China, Opposes Unilateral Attempt To Change Status Quo

The Japanese Ambassador to India Satoshi Suzuki on Friday (3 July) came to India's support over latter's ongoing standoff against China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Ambassador Suzuki in a tweet said that he was briefed over the dispute by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and supported the Indian government's policy to pursue a peaceful resolution to the issue.
Ambassador Suzuki also said that, "Japan opposes any unilateral attempts to change the status quo".
It should be noted that soon after the Galwan face-off the Indian External Affairs Ministry had said that the clash was a "result of an attempt by the Chinese side to unilaterally change the status quo there".
Soon after the Galwan clash, Ambassador Suzuki had expressed his condolences over the 20 Indian soldiers martyred during the violence.
The Indian Navy on 27 June had conducted an exercise with training vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in the Indian Ocean.
It should be noted that Japan was the first country which had backed India's position during the Doklam standoff in 2017.
