Jharkhand Government To Now Move At An ‘Electrifying’ Pace: Inducts EVs For Official Use

The Jharkhand government has joined the push for reduced reliance on fossil fuels by inducting electric vehicles for official use. Chief Minister Raghubar Das confirmed that the energy department of the state government has procured 20 electric vehicles for their official use and a further 30 cars would be procured in the coming weeks.
The procurement has been undertaken by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) which is a joint venture between four public sector enterprises namely NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, POWERGRID and Rural Electrification Company.
An official release from the government quoted the Chief Minister extolling the virtues of shifting away from petroleum products to electric modes of conveyance where he observed that “using electric vehicles will not only protect the environment but also save foreign currency. Everyone will profit if dependency on petroleum products becomes less”.
Infrastructure for the use of electric vehicles is also coming up in the capital city of Ranchi as the energy minister announced that 12 charging stations had already been set up with more in the process of being opened.
