J&K: 16.79 Lakh People Receive Domicile Certificates; 1.22 Lakh Applications Rejected

In a positive development, as many as 16.79 lakh people in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have been provided with domicile certificates by the UT administration so far, reports Economic Times.
Sharing the development in the Lok Sabha yesterday (20 September), Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said that the UT's administration has so far received a total of 21,13,879 applications for domicile certificates.
MoS Reddy also shared that altogether 1,21,630 applications had been rejected by the administration for not annexing the prescribed documents along with the application.
It was earlier reported that the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha had directed the officials to ensure seamless issuance of certificates.
LG Sinha had decreed then that all the pending applications must be cleared over a span of 15 days, as at that moment, the pendency of online applications for domicile certificates was as high as 90 per cent.
