In a major sign of normalcy making significant inroads in the tensed Kashmir Valley, the four-day long recruitment drive conducted for the Territorial Army Batallion in Srinagar witnessed more than 6,500 youths from Jammu and Kashmir participating in it, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Of the 6,500 plus youth, a total of 550 have been shortlisted after the physical examination in the four-day long recruitment drive that ended on Tuesday (15 October). The selected ones will now go through a written examination, after which a merit list will be prepared and the successful candidates will be inducted into the 162 infantry battalion.

One of the participants said, "The drive is very good. The Indian Army is the most disciplined force. I am here to serve the nation."

Another participant added, "I want to protect the country. I am ready to serve in any part of the country. More men should take part in the drive and join the army,"
