J&K BJP leader Ashish Kaul protesting against the security withdrawal of political activists (@BJP4JnK/Twitter)
Protesting against the security withdrawal of the Bharatiya Janata Party activists by the government and the killing of party’s leader by terrorists, a senior functionary of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP on Tuesday (7 May) surrendered his security, reports The New Indian Express.
According to the report, after a protest at the press enclave in Srinagar, party’s state general secretary (organisation) Ashok Kaul surrendered his security and a vehicle provided by the security wing of J&K police.
The BJP leader said that he was surrendering his security as a mark of protest till all political activists in the state were not given security. Kaul also condemned the killing of BJP’s Anantnag district vice-president and said the party leader’s killing was a failure of the state administration.
Kaul said that till the party workers are not secure, there is no point in taking security cover for himself.
"When my workers are not secure, then why should I take the security? I am surrendering my security as a mark of protest," Kaul was quoted in the report as saying.
