In a major development indicating the gradual return of normalcy in day-to-day life in the Kashmir Valley, for the first instance in the past 105 days since the abrogation of Article 370 by Parliament, shops remained open for the entire day on Monday (18 November), reports The Times of India.

The development gains major significance as traders were opening their shops from 7 am to 11 am in the morning hours, and from 5 pm to 8 pm in the evening, given the threats from militant powers operating in the Valley who had issued posters and pamphlets preaching the timings when the traders could open their shops.

As a result of the threats, the masses in the Valley had altered their shopping timings, flocking to the markets to shop according to their needs only in the morning and evening hours.

Meanwhile, it should also be noted that Monday witnessed the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (J&KSRTC)'s buses plying across the regions throughout the day, a first since the Article 370 was revoked.
