JMM Promises To Raise Caste-Based Reservation To 67 Per Cent In Jharkhand, Implement Local Quota In Private Sector Jobs

Ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has released its manifesto and promised to increase reservation for ST, SC and OBC communities to 67 per cent in the state, reports The New Indian Express.
According to the plan, 28 per cent of government jobs would be reserved for STs, 27 per cent for OBCs and 12 per cent for SCs.
Moreover, the party has also pledged to introduce a 75 per cent quota in private sector jobs for locals. JMM chief Shibu Soren has also announced that if his party comes to power they will introduce allowances for unemployed graduates and post-graduates to the tune of Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 per month respectively.
The manifesto also includes the promise of passing a "Bhoomi Adhikar Kanoon" (Right to Land Act), which will give land to the landless in the state.
The JMM is fighting the elections as the principal partner in an alliance with the Congress and RJD.
