Job Opportunities To Be Created For Tribals By Approving Funds Worth Rs 6,000 Crore, Announces FM

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday (14 May) announced that the central government was planning to create job opportunities for tribal and Adivasi people as they too have been financially suffered amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To create job opportunities for #Tribals /Adivasis, Plans worth Rs 6,000 crores to be approved shortly under Compensatory Afforestation Management & Planning Authority (#CAMPA) Funds,” the Press Information Bureau (PIB) tweeted quoting the FM.

The funds allotted under this scheme will be used by state governments for the works such as afforestation and plantation, forest management, soil and moisture conservation tasks among others.

FM Sitharaman, who was announcing the second tranche of the second economic stimulus package amid coronavirus crisis, said the jobs created under the initiative will benefit tribals in urban, semi-urban, as well as rural areas.

The Finance Minister was was holding the second press conference to give detailed breakup of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package which was promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
