Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on Tuesday (28 April) issued a strict warning to the party leaders against making any 'irresponsible' comments, reports Hindustan Times.

The directive from the party boss came in the wake of Uttar Pradesh (UP) BJP MLA Suresh Tiwari's controversial remarks on Muslim vegetable sellers. Tiwari had been heard telling people to not buy vegetables from Muslim hawkers in a video clip which surfaced over the internet yesterday.

“One thing you all should keep in mind. I am telling you openly. Do not buy vegetables from mias (Muslim vendors),” he had remarked.

“The party president (Nadda) was extremely upset by the remarks of the MLA; he spoke to the Uttar Pradesh unit chief and said immediate action should be taken,” said a person privy to the details.

Nadda is believed to have told the office bearers of the party to convey the message that the party would not tolerate any irresponsible remarks and that the party members should not violate any code of conduct.
