Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday (10 March) reached the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Home Minister Amit Shah, with the three now expected to hold a meeting, India Today has reported.

This development comes at a time when rumours are rife about Scindia planning a switch to the BJP, which may result in a deathblow for the Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh government.

Earlier it was reported that the Congress had failed to establish contact with Scindia, with senior leader Digvijaya Singh claiming that a Swine Flu infection was the result of the former’s absence.

In total 17 MLAs loyal to Scindia including six ministers are said to have gone incognito. Ten of them are believed to have landed in Bengaluru yesterday (10 March).

The Kamal Nath government enjoys the support of 120 MLA, with the majority mark being 114. A potential rebellion by the 17 MLAs will result in the Kamal Nath government falling way short of the halfway mark.

The Kamal Nath government in a desperate bid to win back the MLAs had accepted the resignations of the existing state cabinet ministers late last night.
