Jyotiraditya Scindia Seeks Personal Intervention Of Five CMs For Fastracking Development Of Airports

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has requested the Chief Ministers (CM) of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh to personally intervene in matters such as land allocation for airports in order to fast-track their development.

Scindia has appealed to the concerned CMs to direct the required officers to act on issues of depositing funds with the Regional Air Connectivity Fund Trust and also the viability gap funding support for the international UDAN flight operations.

The cabinet minister has asked Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to hand over specific land portions for the development of the Tirupati, Rajahmundry and the Kadapa airports.

Similarly, he has sought land acquisition at Dirang, Daporijo, Passighat, Ziro and Along from Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu.

To Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Scindia has written about the required land acquisitions for the airports in Patna, Purnia, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur and also Darbhanga for various development purposes.

“Scindia has also written to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma drawing his attention to matter of land requirements of 78.5 acre at Dibrugarh Airport, 109 acres at Lilabari Airport, 116.5 acre at Silchar Airport and 50 acre at Jorhat Airport,” the ministry’s official statement revealed, as reported by the Economic Times.

Scindia has further written to Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel about the requirements of land at Raigarh and also regarding the development of Ambikapur airport for flight operations as per the UDAN scheme.
