Kamal Haasan Declines To Contest Lok Sabha Polls Even As His Party Forms Alliance With TMC In Andaman

Actor turned politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan won’t be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls after his name did not feature in his party’s final list for the state of Tamil Nadu, Press Trust of India has reported.
The final list was shared by the party on Sunday (24 March).
After his name did not feature in any of the Lok Sabha or assembly bypoll lists, Haasan assuaged his supporters by stating that all the candidates were his faces. He added that “instead of being in the palanquin, he chooses to shoulder it”.
Incidentally, the MNM has also decided to make allies for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls by aligning with Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
Under this alliance, Haasan would candidate for the candidate fielded by the TMC.
“Right now the focus is on Andaman, and I support my region as well as Bengal, I love Bengal a lot and I will campaign in the Andaman for both the communities”, Haasan was quoted as saying.
