In a shocking revelation, reports have emerged that Congress leader Kapil Sibal received money from radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) during anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests, reports Zee News.

Zee News reports also quotes sources that reveal that senior Congress leader Sibal received 77 lakh while Indira Jaising received 4 lakh. Other beneficiaries include Dushyant A Dave and Abdul Samand who received Rs 11 lakh and Rs 3.10 lakh in their bank accounts respectively.

Earlier, a new investigation in the anti-CAA protests have revealed that over 120 crore were spent to carry out the riots by Popular Front of India (PFI).

As per the investigation, 27 bank accounts were opened in the name of Popular Front of India. 9 bank accounts belong to Rehab India Foundation, an organisation which is associated with PFI and the same organisation has opened 37 bank accounts in the name of 17 different people and organisation.

The police carried out investigation in these 73 accounts and found ample evidence against PFI. According to them, around 120 crores were deposited in these 73 accounts to dodge investigations. After deposits were made, the accounts were emptied leaving only nominal amount in them.

While admitting that he received money from PFI into his accounts, Sibal rejected the claims that it was to conspire and fund the anti-CAA protests. IT was a lawyer fees that the organisation owed him for representing them in the Hadiya case, he clarified.

“The first bill was raised on August 4, 2017. Last bill on March 8, 2018. All payments were received before March 2018,” he said, as reported by India Today.

Lawyer Indira Jaising, however, “completely and vehemently” denied receiving “any money” from PFI “at any point of time”, while saying she did not receive any money from anyone with regards to anti-CAA protests.

The source made another shocking revelation stating that 9 offices of PFI and related organisations have also been opened in the Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area to fund the ongoing protest against the CAA.
