Aiming to make bus stands more friendly to differently-abled passengers, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be providing wheelchairs and ramps that are foldable to those who require it. Out of the 77 KSRTC bus stands in the state, 21 have received the facilities.
Due to non-availability of ramps, it gets very difficult for differently-abled passengers to board buses. The ramps that have been provided can fit the doors of the buses and can be easily detached. This has been implemented after the apex court directed all states in December 2017 to make government-run buses friendly for differently-abled passengers. KSRTC has approached a Chennai firm to supply the required infrastructure.
In Bengaluru, Majestic and Satellite bus stands have ramps and wheelchairs for passengers.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
