Late BJYM leader Praveen Nettaru

Karnataka government has announced handing over the murder case of late BJYM leader Praveen Nettaru to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

"It is a testament to our commitment that we are committed to uncovering the conspiracy behind our activist's sacrifice," BJP Karnataka's official Twitter handle wrote.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting that the probe be handed over to the NIA.

Condemning the murder, Karandlaje, who represents Udupi-Chikkamagaluru parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha, blamed Muslim fundamentalists and organisations like PFI, SDPI and similar groups for the murder, and continued radicalisation of Dakshina Kannada district.

Two persons with suspected links to the Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested by Karnataka police over the murder yesterday (28 July).

BJP had witnessed widespread outrage across its functionaries in the state. State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel's car was surrounded by Hindu activists and BJP workers and Kateel was heckled.

The cars of ministers Sunil Kumar and Angara Sullia were also surrounded. Mass resignations of BJYM members also started in many parts of Karnataka.
