B Sriramulu
Karnataka's Minister for Health and Family Welfare B Sriramulu has recovered from Corona and been discharged from hospital on Sunday. On discharge he took to twitter to thank the doctors and medical staff at the government hospital for aiding his recovery.
Sriramulu who tested positive on 9 August had chosen to get himself admitted at the Bowring Govt Hospital in Shivajinagar in Bengaluru. This came one week after Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and former CM Siddaramaiah testing positive and being admitted to Manipal Hospital.
While critics had been vocal about the two top leaders of the state choosing a private hospital over government facilities, the health minister's act seems to be a subtle attempt to reinstate faith in the state's public health facilities.
Sriramulu had also been tweeting from the hospital about the treatment being provided. People who responded wishing him well, appreciated saying this could set an example and probably help fix the lapses that have been highlighted by the public.
"I am overwhelmed by the caring treatment and loving care provided by the doctors and the medical team at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital , it has left me speechless. I cannot thank them enough," tweeted the Minister.
The number of total Covid affected persons in Karnataka as of yesterday stands at 226,966. The number of active cases is 81,512, with 7,040 new cases reported on Sunday (16 August) while 6,680 persons were discharged.
