Karnataka: Retired IB Officer Mowed To Death By Car; Police Investigating Neighbour's Role

The death of the retired Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, who was mowed down by a car on 4 November in Karnataka's Mysuru, was a planned murder, reports The New Indian Express.
RN Kulkarni, a retired assistant director of IB, Kulkarni, was walking near the Biotechnology Department on the Manasagangotri campus of Mysore University, was hit by the car, killing him on the spot around 5.30 pm on 4 November.
CCTV footage of the accident emerged on social media, showing the vehicle swerving and crashing into him before speeding away.
The police, which initially filed a hit-and-run case, after emergence of the CCTV footage have said the Kulkarni may have been targeted over a property dispute.
Kulkarni was murdered as he had questioned a neighbour for allegedly violating Mysuru City Corporation by-laws while constructing a building, The New Indian Express reported citing sources close to the police investigation.
Kulkarni’s son-in-law, Sanjay Angadi, accused one Madappa and his son of being behind the alleged killing.
City Police Commissioner Chandragupta Sunday said they had taken Madappa and one more person into custody for questioning.
According to police, Madappa lived near Kulkarni’s residence in Sharadadevi Nagar in Mysuru.
He had allegedly constructed his house without leaving enough space, violating a bylaw of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).
Kulkarni approached the civic body, which, on 2 November, ordered Madappa to vacate the house
