Kartarpur Corridor To Be Reopened Prior To Guruparab: Report

The central government has opted to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor with Pakistan after a meeting between BJP MPs from Punjab and Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi.
Moreover, this call has been taken prior to the forthcoming Guruparab, which is an occasion that marks the birth anniversary of the first Sikh guru Guru Nanak.
For that, the government has already permitted Sikh pilgrims to travel to the Kartarpur gurudwara through the Attari-Wagah border.
Last week, India stated that around 1500 pilgrims will be allowed to visit Pakistan from 17th November-25th November via the Attari-Wagah Integrated Check Post (ICP) as per the 1974 bilateral protocol between India and Pakistan on Visits to Religious Shrines.
Notably, Pakistan had denied permission for a visit of Sikh pilgrims to their country twice earlier this year. Now, Pakistan has declared that it will be allowing entry of around 3000 Sikh pilgrims for the upcoming 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Times of India reports.
