Kashmir: After Attack On Tourists, Stones Pelted On School Bus In Shopian

Stone-pelters attacked a bus of a private school in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today, seriously injuring a Class II student, Hindustan Times reports.
According to the daily, the bus, belonging to the Rainbow International School, came under attack from stone-pelters in Zavoora area of the district. The injured student has been rushed to SKIMS Hospital in Srinagar, the report says.
“The area has been sanitised, search for stone pelters is underway and they will be arrested soon,” Senior Superintendent of Police Shailendra Kumar said.
The attack comes just days after stone-pelters targeted vehicles carrying tourists in Ashmuqam area of Pahalgam. Seven tourists were injured in the attack.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attack on Twitter, saying, “shocked and angered to hear of the attack on a school bus in Shopian. The perpetrators of this senseless and cowardly act will be brought to justice.”
Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah also expressed anguish. “How does pelting stones on school children or tourist buses help advance the agenda of these stone pelters? These attacks deserve our unequivocal condemnation,” the leader said on the micro-blogging site.
