Kejriwal Postpones Indefinite Fast Over Delhi Statehood; Cites Prevailing India-Pakistan Situation As Reason

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has postponed his proposed indefinite fast, which he began to muster support for his demand of full statehood for the national capital.
In a tweet on Tuesday (26 February), Kejriwal said that he is postponing his fast in view of the prevailing conditions between India and Pakistan.
“In view of prevailing Indo Pak situation, I am postponing my upwas (fast) for full statehood of Delhi. We all stand as one nation today,” Kejriwal said in the tweet.
Kejriwal was slated to sit on an indefinite hunger strike from 1 March to garner support for his demand of full statehood to Delhi, reports The New Indian Express.
"Kejriwal has no demand from the government and his fast is being held to organise people on the issue of full statehood. He will decide when people are organised over the issue. Till then the hunger strike will go on," AAP convenor Gopal Rai had said on Monday (25 February), as reported by TNIE.
However, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have reportedly questioned Kejriwal's decision to go on fast, saying it is a move targeted to gain political mileage weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
