A doctor from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram has claimed that he is being targeted by Islamists for supporting the citizenship amendment act (CAA).
In a series of tweets on Wednesday (15 January) Dr Ranjit Vijayahari who is a Gastro surgeon and a clinic along with his wife, took to twitter to claim that “Jihadi elements” have been targeting him and his practice for supporting CAA.
Dr Vijayahari who has been a Seva Bharathi activist and is affiliated with the RSS shared a screenshot of Islamists defaming him and his practice by claiming that he being “communal” will not be able to offer any empathy.
Another individual can be seen giving unsolicited advice to patients to be careful when they visit his clinic. He also added a few other screenshots in which he claimed that his friends in the medical profession too have been targeted with allegations of unethical practices and “cruel treatment” for having “unfavourable political views”.
The communist government in the state has since the enactment of CAA, vehemently opposed the law, even passing a resolution demanding its rollback, which also received support from the Congress. It has now also filed a suit against the act in the Supreme Court.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
