Kerala’s Coronavirus Hotspot Kasaragod To Get 540 Bed Hospital Built By Tata Group

Kerala’s Kasaragod district has reasons to be glad despite the grim situation of it being the coronavirus capital of the state.
First an amicable solution to the border issue between Kasaragod and Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada was arrived at with the intervention of the centre facilitating movement of ambulances and patients with medical emergencies to Mangalore yesterday (7 April).
And now the Tata group has offered to build a hospital at Thekkil village in Chemmanad panchayat of Kasaragod. The hospital will have 540 isolation beds and other facilities besides a quarantine facility for 450 patients.
As reported, the hospital will be built in the next three months as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and will be constructed using pre-assembled pieces with prefabrication technology.
The district collector Sajith Babu has urged locals to pitch in with the efforts to construction the hospital on a 15-acre government plot.
He called for contractors in the region to pitch in with their earth-movers and labourers to level the land so that construction work can begin.
As of Tuesday, Kasaragod has 131 active Covid-19 cases.
