Yash-starrer KGF earlier made history when it became the first Kannada movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club. Adding another feather to its cap, its has also become the first Kannada movie to be commercially released in Pakistan, New Indian Express has reported.

The Hindi version of the movie hit Pakistani screens on 11 January and is performing well at the box office, an executive producer has claimed.

According to film reviewer Harish Mallya the movie is doing well in multiplexes across Lahore and Islamabad. The produces though are yet to release the collection figures.

Movies from South India generally fare well in the Gulf countries, but release in Pakistan is a different ballgame, owing to linguistic issues. The last movie having a commercial release in Pakistan was Rajinikanth-starrer ‘2.0’.

The Indian Express quoted film reviewer Sreedhar Pillai as saying, “The first half of KGF was set in Mumbai. So it has a north Indian connect. Nativity matters in films that are dubbed. A south Indian village-based subject might not do well if it is dubbed in north India. Also, the subject of mining is something that people in Pakistan too can connect with. And the film has plenty of action, which is a universal favourite.”

KGF already earned over Rs 200 crore within just two weeks. Even in the United States, KGF has made over a million dollars.
