Kurnool Connected: Andhra Pradesh CM Inaugurates Airport; Rayalaseema Set To Grow By Attracting Global Investors

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Kurnool’s Orvakal greenfield airport on Tuesday, reports Times of India.
On the occasion, Naidu said world-class aviation infrastructure would be created by 2022 to ensure seamless air connectivity to regional, national and global destinations.
Describing the Rayalaseema region as mineral-rich, Naidu said it would be transformed into a preferred investment destination for economic development, with the Orvakal greenfield airport acting as a lifeline.
“Orvakal greenfield airport has been developed in a record span of just 18 months at a cost of Rs 88.5 crore on 1010 acres. We have established the new airport at Orvakal with our own funds to cherish the decade-long dream of the people of this district to have an airport here. Now, the people of the district can travel to Amaravati and other parts of India at ease,” Naidu said.
Naidu also inaugurated the 1,000-megawatt ultra-mega solar park in Kurnool on the same day. He promised to establish similar parks in Anantapur and Kadapa districts to make sure the state has surplus energy and is a hub for solar power for future decades. He also laid the foundation stone for a cancer research centre, a super-speciality hospital worth Rs 120 crore and three MSME industrial parks.
Taking part in Janmabhoomi Maa Vuru programme at Kosiga mandal, he laid the foundation stone for the 16,000-crore Jaladhaara programme (aimed at providing drinking water throughout the state).
