Kuwait's Ambassador to India Jassem Al-Najem has expressed gratitude to the Indian Government for sending a 15-member rapid response team and providing medical supplies to the Gulf nation, adding muscle to its fight against COVID-19, reports Economic Times.

Ambassador Al-Najem underscored that the two nations are successfully collaborating in the fight against the pandemic. He also expressed his gratitude to the Indian Government for facilitating the return of Kuwaiti nationals who had been in India since the suspension of domestic and international air travel.

The 15-member team which India had dispatched to Kuwait recently consisted of doctors and healthcare workers who shall be providing medical assistance in carrying out testing and treatment of the confirmed cases of COVID-19, while also imparting training to the Kuwaiti personnel.

The rapid response team was sent to Kuwait after the Gulf nation's Prime Minister Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah had called on Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi seeking assistance. Subsequently, Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar had also held a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart to explore further strengthening of cooperation.
