Two policemen and a Doordarshan cameraman were killed in a second major attack of the week in Maoist affected Dantewada, in the poll-bound state of Chattisgarh.

The DD team, which was accompanying the security forces on routine anti-Maoist operations, were caught in a crossfire.

Abhishek Pallav, the Dantewada Superintendent Of Police, said the deceased cameraman Achuyatanand Sahoo, belonging from Odisha, was a part of a three-member DD team. The two jawans killed were identified as assistant sub-inspector Rudra Pratap Singh and a constable Mangal Ram.

The first attack happened on Saturday when four jawans were killed in a Maoist attack at Basaguda in the strife-torn Bijapur district of Odisha.

The Election Commission will be facing a tough challenge of conducting a peaceful election, with the Maoist calling a boycott and rebel’s violence marring it. The first phase having 190 candidates and covering 18 constituencies in the conflict zone will be held on 12 November.
