Leading e-commerce eye-wear portal, Lenskart.com is facing ire of social media users for spreading false information regarding Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

On Saturday, a social media user cheekily commented over a poll-booth photo that people who denied to show documents, are not standing in queue carrying them before all.

On this comment, the official twitter handle of Lenskart replied that these documents are not of “1950”. On facing the ire, Lenskart later deleted the comment.

Social media users were quick to point out that the year 1950 has no relevance for either CAA or NRC. This tweet by the major e-commerce company only adds weight to the argument that enough mis-information has been spread about the exercise.

Meanwhile, several users were ready with innovative and quirky response to Lenskart.

One user said, “ Now, the person who's handling this @Lenskart_com profile urgently needs a proper eyewear, to first read what is the issue all about fully, so as to comment on the context! ”

Another remarked, “@Lenskart_com happy with cheap publicity?”

While another user said, “ Nobody has ever asked for 1950 documents. Malicious, malintentioned misrepresentation apart, this @Lenskart_com tweet is self-admission why their glasses are best avoided: If you use Lenskart lenses you will either read #CAA upside down or you will just see a haze of letters. ”
