#Local4Diwali campaign of Textiles Ministry (Pic Via Twitter)
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to buy local products during during this festive season, Ministry of Textiles has launched a #Local4Diwali campaign and appealed to the people to celebrate Diwali by buying and gifting Indian handicrafts.
“Inspired by the clarion call given by the Prime Minister on 9th of November, let’s come together to show our support for local textile and handicraft business," the Textiles Ministry appealed in a statement on Wednesday (11 November).
The ministry urged people to buy local products this Diwali including the earthen diyas, desi drape, home furnishings like bed sheets, curtains or handcrafted goods.
It also asked people to encourage Diwali sales through weavers, artisans, local and small businesses, and urged them to show their support on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram by using the hashtag #Local4Diwali.
The move comes after PM Modi on 9 November urged fellow countrymen to buy local this Diwali.
