London: Over Four Decade Old Krishna Idols Stolen From Swaminarayan Temple Few Hours After Diwali Celebrations

Police officers from Scotland Yard rushed to the spot after the authorities of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir registered a case of burglary as three valuable idols of Lord Krishna have been reportedly stolen from the premises of the temple located north of London. The idols are said to be more than four decades old.
The crime is supposed to have happened just a few hours after Diwali celebrations concluded in the temple. The Tribune quoted a statement from the Metropolitan Police as saying, “Police were called at 01.50 hrs on Friday (9 November), to a report of a burglary at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Willesden Lane. Officers attended. The suspect had left the scene. Cash and other items are believed to have been stolen.”
An investigation has thus been launched. One of the theories suggests that the robbers may have stolen the idols mistaking them to be of gold. While in reality, they are made of brass. The temple is one of the biggest in Europe.
Several prominent London citizens have appealed to Mayor Sadiq Khan to take the matter seriously and have it resolved at the earliest.
