L&T Construction Bags EPC Contract For Saudi Arabia’s Largest Solar Plant

The renewable energy arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded the contract to build Saudi Arabia’s largest solar plant - Sudair solar PV project that has a capacity of 1.5GW. It is estimated to be valued at around Rs 5000-7000 crore.
The contract has been awarded by the consortium of ACWA Power and the Water and Electricity Holding Company, which is a subsidiary of Saudi’s Public Investments Fund (PIF).
The contract is of the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) type and the project, which is a part of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), will be installed in the Riyadh province.
1.5GW PV solar modules along with associated single axial tracker and inverters will be established in the available 30.8 square kilometer land parcel. This particular project, set to be developed by L&T, is a part of the 70 per cent target capacity of 58.7 GW of the kingdom that has been allotted to the PIF.
“We have been building efficient power transmission and distribution networks with modern substations and transmission lines in this region for more than 2 decades. This is yet another recognition of our capabilities to construct mega projects to speed and scale,” L&T top official T Madhava Das was quoted by the Mint.
