Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs M J Akbar's continuation as the junior foreign minister seems uncertain with sources claiming that retaining the minister now seemingly untenable, as reported by ANI.
The source additionally said that Akbar, who is confronting claims of sexual misconduct, won't cut short his tours and has now flown down to Equatorial Guinea from Nigeria. He is scheduled to return India on Sunday.
Akbar is under the scanner after a few of his former female colleagues blamed him for sexual misconduct when he held senior positions in various media organisations.
Several claims of sexual misconduct have begun to pour in on influential people throughout the country, propelling the #MeToo movement as scores of women, from different fields of work, shared their stories via social media.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
