‘Made In India Sensors Can Revolutionise Drone Use In Defence Sector’: DRDO Chief Calls For Industry Participation

The chairman of the Defence Research and Development organisation, Dr G Satheesh Reddy has urged Indian industries to develop Unmanned Areal Vehicles (UAV), reports Deccan Chronicle.
Indigenous development of sensors would play a significant role in revolutionising UAV for commercial and defence applications, said Reddy.
“UAVs are going to play a major role in both defence and civilian sectors. So there is an urgent need for the industry to gear up and work in these areas,” Dr Reddy was quoted as saying.
He was speaking at a national conference, ‘Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Opportunities and Challenges’ by Aeronautical Society of India’.
The Defence Ministry also plans to conduct a ‘drone Olympics’ during the upcoming Aero India event.
Meanwhile, Agni III’s Program Director V V Rao has come out to say that aerospace technology would play a vital role in futuristic unmanned systems.
Also, NITI Aayog Member V K Saraswat, while delivering a talk at a conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in aerospace, said that AI is a disruptive technology which will impact innovation, productivity and speed of emerging industries.
