Madhya Pradesh: Kamal Nath Government Mulling 70 Per Cent Jobs Quota For Locals In Both Government And Private Sectors

During a discussion in the state assembly, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath revealed that the state government was looking to come out with a law which would reserve 70 per cent of local jobs for residents of the state, in both the government as well as the private sector, reports The Indian Express.
In a Question Hour discussion, the chief minister claimed that unemployed youths from the state had faced unjust treatment; he explained that in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and others, exams for jobs were held in the local language making it difficult for candidates from Madhya Pradesh to find employment there.
This is not the first time that Nath has spoken about a local jobs quota. Last year, soon after the Congress party came to power in the state, he had promised that his government would incentivise those firms which had at least 70 per cent of their employees from Madhya Pradesh.
The chief minister had come under criticism at the time for linking the problem of local unemployment to migration from other states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
