Mahagathbandhan A Failure At The Cadre-Level: Prashant Kishor Predicts NDA Win In 2019 Lok Sabha Polls

Noted mastermind of political strategy Prashant Kishor, who became directly involved in politics as Janata Dal (United) vice-president, has said that the BJP-led NDA is likely to win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and form the government again, reports The Hindu. He also commented on the direction Andhra Pradesh politics seems to be taking.

“It might be a BJP-led NDA but it will be NDA in the true sense. A 50-60 seat change in number of the BJP would have disproportionate impact on the way the Cabinet is and it will have an impact on the way political narrative is in the country,” Kishor remarked.

The JD(U) leader also expressed his scepticism about the Mahagathbandhan that has been formed by a multitude of opposition parties to counter the BJP, stating it was just a convenient meeting of minds of the top leadership while there complete chaos prevailed at the level of the grassroots cadre.

“Whoever wins, will have a decisive mandate but the fight will be tight. The result might look landslide but the fight will be challenging,” he said.

The organisation founded by Kishor called Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC), which specialises in coordinating political campaigns, is working with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking about the vulnerability of the incumbent TDP government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, he stated, “Mr. Naidu was rewarded once. At the end of his term, largely, one gets the sense that people think that he could not deliver what he was expected to. And it’s not easy to reverse that. If Mr. Naidu were to have a high decibel successful flagship programme, it would have been very difficult for any challenger, including Mr. Jagan.”
