Maharashtra: Amid Ongoing Stalemate, Shiv Sena Leaders Attend Meet Called By CM Fadnavis Over Agrarian Crisis

Amid the ongoing stalemate between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party over formation of government in Maharashtra, the state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday (6 November) chaired a meeting in Mumbai over agrarian crisis, in which the Shiv Sena ministers including Eknath Shinde and Ramnath Kadam were also present, reports Times of India.
After the meeting was over, Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam said that party leaders attended the meeting to raise the issues being faced by farmers.
"This meeting was regarding farmers' issues. Tomorrow no one can say Shiv Sena did not come for farmers' problems, so we attended this meeting. We demanded Rs 25,000 per acre compensation for farmers immediately,” Kadam was quoted in the report as saying.
Earlier on Sunday (3 November), Fadnavis visited unseasonal rain-affected Lakhanwada, Chikhalgaon and Mhaispur villages in Akola district. He inspected the crop damages due to the rains and also interacted with the farmers.
Following the results of assembly elections on 24 October, BJP and Shiv Sena are engaged in a bitter tug-of-war with the latter refusing to soften stand on its demands for equal sharing of Cabinet portfolios and the chief minster's tenure of 2.5 years.
