Maharashtra MLC Polls: Congress Gets Just 17 Votes In Amaravati; BJP, Shiv Sena Win Two Seats Each

Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have won two seats each in the Maharashtra Legislative Council biennial elections, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has bagged one, India News has reported.
According to the report, the Shiv Sena has won in Parbhani-Hingoli and Nashik constituencies. The BJP has won in Amravati, where the Congress candidate managed to get just 17 votes. The party has also won in the Wardha-Chandrapur seat. The NCP has won in the Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat.
While voting was held for six seats on 21 May, counting on one has been deferred. The overall voting percentage in all the six constituencies was 99.18 per cent.
The BJP and Shiv Sena had contested on three seats each. While the BJP contested Osmanabad-Beed-Latur, Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli and Amaravati seats, the Shiv Sena put up candidates from Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Nashik and Parbhani-Hingoli seats. Three of these seats were with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), two with the BJP and one with the Congress.
In a major twist, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane supported NCP candidate Aniket Tatkare in the Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat.
Of the 78 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, NCP has 23, Congress 19, BJP 18, Shiv Sena 9. Two other local parties have one seat each.
