With the relations between Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena and incumbent Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis led Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reaching a breaking point over the contentious issue of a CM post for half of the five year tenure for Aaditya Thackeray, Amit Shah has stepped in to defuse the tensions, reports Asian News International (ANI).

BJP's state unit president Chandrakant Patil told the media persons yesterday (29 October) that Thackeray and Shah will be holding the talks to take a final call on power-sharing in the state.

The development comes after Thackeray cancelled a meeting between the leaders of the Shiv Sena and BJP after CM Fadnavis claimed in the public that Shiv Sena had never been promised a CM post for half of the five year term by Shah, which stood contrary to the claim made by Shiv Sena supremo and other senior leaders of the party.

Meanwhile, the state unit of the BJP is set to hold the meeting of the legislative party at 1 pm today (30 October) in which CM Fadnavis will formally be elected the leader of the elected representatives from the party.
