Make In India, Ride In Australia: Alstom’s Andhra Facility Completes Delivery Of 22 Sydney Metro Train-Sets

French multinational Alstom, strengthening India’s role as manufacturing and engineering hub, has delivered the last of 22 trainsets produced in company’s Sricity facility in Andhra Pradesh to Sydney Metro, Moneycontrol has reported.
Alstom, in 2014, had bagged a contract to deliver 22 six-car trainsets as well as CBTC signalling system for Australia’s North West Rail Link (NWRL) project.
NWRL is Australia’s biggest public transport project and first fully automated network.
The full automatic metropolis train has features like latest passenger information systems, pram areas, space for luggage, bicycles and wheelchairs. Passengers, once inside, can move freely throughout the train. It also has priority seating for persons with reduced mobility.
Alstom senior vice president (Asia Pacific) Ling Fang, in a statement, stated that the company has completed the last train for the Sydney metro project.
The statement added that the company is “proud to see Sricity concluding its first export order on time, delivering on expectations and winning our customer's trust.”
"We firmly believe in India's role as a manufacturing and engineering hub for international markets, and this milestone bears witness to that," added the statement.
Alstom’s managing director for India Pacific, Alain Spohr said the achievement of the Sricity facility was a testimony of the company’s robust endorsement to ‘Make in India’.
