Lovely Professional University (LPU), in order to make sure its students attend the 106th Indian Science Congress (ISC) - the country’s largest science meet has resorted to a new technique.
LPU has promised its students free attendance and bonus marks in the next semester, if they submitted ‘attendance proof slips’ from the event. The attendance slip contains the name of the student, registration number, venue of the session and most importantly, a photograph of the student.
To ensure that students didn’t disappear right after submitting the attendance slips, they were asked to produce slips at venue entrances, and at some venues, students were also made to sign amidst sessions.
As reported by Indian Express, students have been promised free attendance for 25 lectures and 30 marks in the next semester, scheduled to begin on 14 January. In the event of missing even a single session, neither free attendance nor marks will be provided.
The event was optional for first and second-year students but remained compulsory for the third and fourth years.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
